Father, I pray that my “love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment” (Phil 1:9), and also that
-I “may approve the things that are excellent,…be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.” (Phil 1:9-11).
-I will remain “confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Phil 1:6).
-“in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.” (Phil 1:20).
I pray that as Paul desired for the Philippians church, that the church of today, of which I am a part will conduct itself in a manner that is “worthy of the gospel of Christ… stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel”, and not in any way terrified by it’s adversaries…” May we remember that it has been granted unto us “on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake” (Phil 1:27-29).
I also pray that as a church we will be “like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.” And that we will “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind…each esteem others better than himself”, not looking out only for our “own interests but also for the interests of others” (Phil 2:2-4).
Father transform us so that we will have the mindset and attitude as Messiah Yeshua who demonstrated humility and obedience by taking the form of a man, though He is God, so as to accomplish his purpose on earth. Help us to also live our lives in humility and obedience as according to your will, regardless of our earthly status. (Phil 2:5-8).
May we, in your strength, work out our “own salvation with fear and trembling”; for it is God who works in us enabling us “both to will and to do for His good pleasure” (Phil 2:12-13).
I also pray that we will live peaceful lives “without complaining and disputing”, so as to be “blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation” in which we are called to “shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life… (Phil 2:14-16).
